Hybrid Antiinfectives

Nosocomial infections by multi-resistant germs are a major issue in today's hospitals. Priaxon has developed hybrid antibiotic agents that combine various structural features and biological activities in one molecule.
Test results show a strong synergistic effect of the two antibiotic pharmacophore moieties with very high activity especially against Gram-positive pathogens such as MRSA and VRE. It has been demonstrated that resistance development of these germs against Priaxon's hybrid antibiotics is strongly inhibited. A first round of toxicity assays on mouse fibroblasts and human HepG2 cells has been performed showing no toxicity from the hybrid molecules.
